Thick hair? thinned/straightening?

get an appointment with a good stylist and ask her opinion. usually more natural styles are best anyway. ask her about a low mantainance way to style your hair. i have thick hair and although it can be difficult i love it. people compliment me on my hair all the time

Thick hair? thinned/straightening?

well put it up or straten ti

Thick hair? thinned/straightening?

i would'tn worry about staightening it, curly hair is gorgious, let it be natural, otherwise your going to ruin it

Thick hair? thinned/straightening?

Y9ou could get it proffesionally/ permanently staightened, as for inexpensive straightners. I have no idea....

Thick hair? thinned/straightening?

The Chi 1 inch flat iron will straighten a brillo pad!

Thick hair? thinned/straightening?

dont worry about it..

Thick hair? thinned/straightening?

help me plez im in the 7th grd ah!!!

does being in the seventh grade have anything to do with straightening your hair?!

gaaaaaah you people are KILLING MEEEEE

Thick hair? thinned/straightening?

My daughter has a wet to dry with the option to use on dry hair. Wet to dry DOES damage hair. You will end up cutting a lot off. How about going to a stylist and discussing it with them? Mine suggested thinning the middle areas. Also, layering it may work for you! I have naturally curly hair and used a product called CURL REMOVER. It worked GREAT! It is a chemical but helped my hair become more manageable and less "poofy"! :) Hope this helps! I remmeber being in the 7th grade with the same kind of hair!

Thick hair? thinned/straightening?

You just need to have it thinned, massively. Go to a good salon, not some cheap place and have them do the thinning to get it all started. I have no idea where you get your hair cut now, but, seems like you need someone else.

Thick hair? thinned/straightening?

i dnt knw. never had that kind of problem. back in 7th grade my hair was juz naturally thick, shiny and straight

Thick hair? thinned/straightening?

All straighteners dry out your hair so don't straighten it every day. I also have thick, curly hair. If you want a good hair straightener you need to spend about $100. The cheap ones are cheap for a reason. I have a ceramic one and it works well. If you do get your hair thinned, it has to be long. Otherwise after about a month it grows back and will make it even puffy-er. You could try using hair mousse and leaving it curly. That way you don't need to buy a straightener and it won't dry out your hair.

Thick hair? thinned/straightening?

I totally suggest getting it thinned! It really helped me. O and if you keep straightening your hair like days in a row (dont forget to wash in between) It starts to get less curly. And sooner or later you can wear it DOWN without having to straighten it!!!!

Thick hair? thinned/straightening?

You might want to try going to a hair salon and getting a hair relaxer, it really helped my hair. But there are also a ton of products that would help if you found the one that works with your hair. And wet to dry straighteners do dry your hair out, most ceramic irons from walmart or somewhere aren't that expensive and they work just as well. I feel for you though, I had hair just like that.

Thick hair? thinned/straightening?

well my cousin gets the stragihtner ur talkin about but it really depends on ur ethnicity... like are u black or white ive never heard of caucasian ppl gettin straightners maybe u should try blow drying it in sections and getting some kind of straightning serum and a flat iron... they make lots of shampoos and cond. for frizzy curly hair but if ur afrinac american id recomend the straightner bc i have thinck frizzy hair and i just get a relaxer perm every month and my hair is straight. but i have to blow dry it in sectiond with a brush and then flatiorn it hope that helps.

Thick hair? thinned/straightening?

You should leave your hair alone. Always shampoo AND CONDITION your hair. To minimize frizz and make it look like the hollywood curls use mousse in the morning. Not too much though or it'll become too unnatural.

Besides curly hair is beautiful.

Use it to your advantage.

Embrace the wild untamed beauty that is curly hair.

Thick hair? thinned/straightening?

First- Never thin your hair. When you put shorter pieces of hair on the interior of the haircut, it makes hair bigger! Straighteners will ruin your hair unless your using professional products to keep it healthy, and even then it isn't good for your hair. The best straightener is a Chi, which will run $100 or more. Sorry- the others will ruin your hair even faster and not do the job as good. Just get in with a good stylist who will set you up with the best products to tame your mane and a good haircut which helps just as much. A lot of stylists aren't good with curly thick hair, so get a referral from someone with hair like yours that you think looks good.

Thick hair? thinned/straightening?

i have very thick hair also. i know, it is the worst!!! try using a straightening serum. they sell them everywhere. follow the directions on the bottle. use it right after you wash your hair. then let your hair air dry a bit. dont blow it right away. also, dont wash your hair everyday. your hair needs to collect some oil in order for it to not be so dry and poofy.

if that doesnt work, definatly get it thinned and maybe long layers.

good luck!!!

Thick hair? thinned/straightening?

I have had hair like yours since forever. I hated it to when i was young it took forever to bruch and i felt like i couldnt do anything with it. Dont bother useing a chimical straightener it will only make it more frizzy and it will only last a day or two. There are only really two things you can do just use some suave mouse for curls it will make them nice spiral curls or you can use some paul michem pull. It pulls your curls down so there not frizzy and your hair looks wavy

Thick hair? thinned/straightening?

Okay, I have some great solutions for you I have thick curly hair as well.

To straighten you hair, wash it and detangle it in the shower first and put it in a bun to dry. It might take a couple hours depending on how long and thick your hair is.

Once it is dry section it in 1-1 1/2 sections.

Apply an oil that is not petroleum or mineral based these will cause your hair to break off.

Take the section and make sure it is detangled. You should have combed it and detangled it in the shower.

Take the Maxiglide and flat iron your hair in sections until it is complete.

Wrap your hair at night and use a silk or satin scarf to cover it.

NOTE: Don't use a lot of oil just a dime size for each section or maybe even less depending on your hair.

Don't wash your hair everyday and straighten it.

Only straighten your hair once a week at the most.

To wear your hair naturally curly: wash your hair in the shower and condition it. Comb your hair while it is wet in the shower. Don't comb your curly hair once it drys. Curly hair frizzes up when you comb it dry.

Try Curls products. They can be bought at curls.biz.

These products are especially made for curly hair. If you find these products too expensive you can use gel or mouse, however these products are not good for your hair in the long run.

Apply products like gel and mouse to your hair by combing them through with your fingers.

Let your hair air dry.

Go to Maxiglide.tv for more straightening info and to Curls.biz for more on wearing your hair curly and ways to keep your hair healthy.

Good luck! I hope I've helped.

P.S. Don't get discouraged if you try to straighten your hair this way the first time and it doesn't come out exactly like you wanted it. It takes a little practice. However the maxiglide is very easy to use so you should be okay.

Thick hair? thinned/straightening?

OMG! I have the exact same type of hair as you (check my avatar.) Seriously, i know what i am talking about. A few years ago i decided (just like you are) in a change for my hair. I was sick of it, no, i was done with it, and wanted to walk away from it and never look back...and well, thats kinda what i got.

Not knowing what to do, the lady (who was an at home beautician [eek!], don't go to them, even if there a good friend) suggested thinning it (since i have THICK hair,) so she did. TERRIBLE mistake, i later find out. But i didn't stop there, oh no i went on to more extremes...i relaxed it (Ah!) to try to straighten it.

Don't do either, like you, i have very thick, very curly hair. You see, when i went to those extremes without any research it turned out terrible, everyday was a hastle to get my hair looking decent (and even then is wasn't nice.) I had to put all this expensive gunk in my hair to flaten it down. (cause when you thin your hair, [it's like layering it] its making your hair uneven so your hair won't be able to weigh itself down [just imagine your frizzy hair now, then it not being able to weigh itself down at all...its not good!])

So finally my good %26amp; gracious aunt interveined and hepled me nurse my hair back to health. But it wasn't simple, no not simple, it took YEARS. It took me 3 years to get my hair back after only a month's worth of damage (from multiple visits.)

I'm betting your hair is very beautifull, i've seen past pictures of myself when i used to hate my hair, and it was just gorgeous! I used to get compliments on it all the time (untill i made my mistakes.) But if your still unconvinced, go ahead and do what your gonna do, the only way to learn is to make mistakes. Or if you still want a change here are my sugestions:

Right now (after about a year of my healthy hair, finally!) i have my hair cut a little higher than my chin. (oh no, it looks great!) I was a leary because i wasn't sure if it would look good with my frizzy, curly, thick hair but it's adorable and easy to maintain. You can just hop out of the shower and go! it dries in nice curls instead of all around frizz (yay, no afro!) but you can come through it and put some stuff in it if you want more control.

(Quick fact: Shorter hair makes you look slimer [and older], and if it's above your chin, it makes you look like you don't have a double chin! [ yay for me!])

If your not looking into short hair i suggest working with your hair products, since your hair is curly, thick %26amp; frizzy you have to treat it like a damaged, color treated, chemicaly distroyed hair (even when it's not! [sorry girl, it's just the kind of hair we've got]) I suggest some of these products that helped my hair grow healthy:

http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_ss_hpc/00...

It is nice and thick and really get's into your hair (any of them are really great for our type of hair)

http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_ss_gw/103...

Despite what some will tell you (like they did me) we should shmpoo are hair (at least once a week, but not EVERY day) cause it is thick. When you wash w/ shampoo focus on the scalp, and wash tell it squeeks!

http://www.amazon.com/Pantene-Pro-V-Rest...

Great for fast frizz relief (don't use too much)

There, i hope i've helped (this took me awhile.) Last thing, Research. It's not a scary word! Trust me, just 10 minutes of research can do you alot of good when you know what your looking for. Good luck, i hope your are happy with the style you choose (personaly i now love the way our hair is, it's like a wild untameable lion, it's so unique, not many other people can have it!), Thanks for reading ;)
