A friend of mine has thinner hair at the sides from tying her hair back too tight. She noticed the loss/thinning about 2 months ago. She stopped tying it back so tight but bc of her job she needs to wear her hair up. She ties it looser than before. Is it too early to see a improvement? What can she do to help grow the hair back? Its not terribly thin but enough to make her self-concious.

Try Biotin. It's a vitamin. And make sure the pony tail is LOOSE.

I would suggest a deep conditioner at least every week under the dryer. And as far as the ponytail she should ask her boss if she can wear a french braid instead.

Could she try a hair clip instead? The hair is still up, but just not as tight.
I don't now if there is anything that she can do to grow it back without medication. I used to wear ponytails all the time and I have very thin spots on both my temples. My hair dresser suggested clips instead of ponytails.
