You can layer it, it looks great, but only if you get it done proffessionaly. :) It naturally thins it out. Look for picture on the internet of layered hair. I have layered my hair before also, it worked. :)

You don't want your hair thinned just get a straightener and cut it because when you have thin hair you cant do any thing and you have bald spots sometimes. So take my advice just get a straightener.

it actually makes it thicker over time, which is why i stopped doing it, i have thick brown curly hair, but a few years ago they would take a special kind of scissor and cut at your hair everywhere...imagine taking a pair of scissors to root of your hair and not actually cutting it off...its pretty scary when you see them do it....but it does work and you feel alot lighter afterward....

If your hair is wavy, it will be hard to thin it because it takes a lot of skill to make it look good. Unless your stylist is a true professional dont thin your hair. If you must, dont let them DARE touch it with a razor. It will ruin your hair, make them used scissors. A razor is usually used on straight hair and works really well, but on wavy hair the risks of damage like split ends is higher. Besides most people would kill to have beautiful thick and wavy hair. Its a cute beachy look. Just put some surf-spray or pomade in it and your ready to go.

Just tell your hair dresser that you want your hair to feel lighter and less thick. When I get my hair thinned my hairdresser normally razor-cuts it or uses a scizor technique that is kinda hard to explain. It sounds like we have the same texture of hair, I have thick, long wavy-ish hair too and I find that when it is thinned it is a lot easier to blow dry, straighten, etc. The thinned feeling lasts pretty long as well!

Good luck!
