Does anyone else out there have fine thin hair that was chemically damaged?

I can let it air dry almost all the way out, but it is too thin and stringy and requires a little bit (about 2 to 3 minutes) of blowdrying with a blowdryer. Is this making it worse and what other options do I possibly have for fine thin hair???

Well I disagree with not coloring or perming. People with fine hair tend to have a tightly packed cuticle thus appearing thin and stringy and tends to be oily. Think of your hair as one of those static dusters (you know the multicolored ones you spin in your hands before using to fluff it up). Well untouched it lays flat and limp but when you color or perm it it "blows up the cuticle" making it appear thicker and fuller. By no means am I suggesting some harsh perm and double processed bleaching or some other drastic measure. Get a good stylist who can give you a gentle perm and follow it up with some color and get layers cut into your hair. Always perm before color and wait several weeks in between. Blow drying is good too try some Chi volumizing spray its good too and yes I do like the glossers as well. Go to a good salon (not one that is advertising hair cuts for 5 bucks along side the road) you might pay more but its worth it in the end.

the blow dying won't affect it that much. buy yourself the entire Redken Extreme line for hair and use as directed. get regular trims (once every 4 to 6 weeks).

Whatever you do, DON'T COLOR OR PERM chemically damaged hair. It'll make matters worse! You may opt to go for a shorter hairstyle to give lifeless, fine hair some shape; consult with your stylist first. Also, if you prefer blow-dried hair, set it to low and hold it far away from your head.

I am in the same situation and agree with the previous writer. I have also found that a defrizz product seems to really help it look healthier. The one that seems to work best for me is by Bumble %26amp; Bumble. It is a bit pricey, but it works great.

Buy one of those heat activated hair protectant sprays and apply before blowdrying. Got2b makes one, so does TIGI Bedhead. You can find them at any store really, from Walmart to CVS to Ulta or Sephora. I have the same type of hair you do, and the spray seems to help minimize damage from heat styling. Drugstore.com has them online if that's how you wish to shop.

yes the blowdrying can make it worse esp. if it's set high and if it is exercised frequently. other options? volumizer and using a paddle brush while blowdrying without heat.

Yup, me! Mine was damaged by straightening it... it was all falling off, and they've became so thin! So i used tons of moisturisers, conditioners, and tries not to wash it or brush it for as long as i can. It helps... Now after a few months, my hair doesn't fall anymore, and i think it'll take along time before it grows back to the way it is, but the results are evident.

Do not try to hurry it or whatsoever. You can only wait for it to grow back ur original hair and cut off the parts that are damaged, as it will not "repair". It'll just "replace".

stay away from any chemical treatment, condition, condition, condintion!! Look for any conditioner that repairs damaged hair, Pantene Pro V is good and try to stay away from so much heat, blow drying is good but daily use of heat on hair is not so good, it adds to the damage already there and that cause it to break off and split ends,but if you must have heat to your hair get a product that can protect your hair from the damage heat can cause. and again try the Pantene they have one for all hair type. No I don't believe that it's making it worst I have then hair and I bleached mine and it got damaged but I still do the same stuff like take care of it and make sure that it stays greased and taking care of so its been growing and you should just take real good care of your hair.
