My Parents wont let me thin my hair!?

I have been asking my parents to let me get blond highlights and thin it cause its very thick.

They agree with getting highlights but disagree with getting my hair thinned. They think it will damage my hair!

Is their anyway that I can make my parents approve of it??

Well, highlights do thin out your hair a bit and thining it out my cuase some damage(split ends)...but i don't see why not, now that i think about it...show them this page and this might convince them...

umm thining your hair is like getting layers, theres no chemicals involved, tell them that cause they obvioulsy are thinking of somthing else

Uh, highlights cause more damage. Are you talking about thinning because it is too thick, or because you want to layer it? I have really thick hair, and I get it thinned because it is so heavy. If I dont thin it, it gives me a headache. Why are they so worried?? It is hair, it will grow back. Maybe bring up getting a tattoo or peircing...then it might not seem so bad...lol

Have them talk to the sylist,,,,,the highlights are going to damage your hair more than thinning it out.

You do have to respect your parents' decision as long as you are living at home tho, but I do think it wil go a long way if they talk to the stylist.

My boys have very thick hair. I make sure the hairdresser thins it out. It doesn't damage their hair at all. Just make sure you go to a high quality salon. It makes a huge difference in the texture of their hair. Without thinning it out they look like giant puff balls. It's funny because I won't let them get hilites! Ok, not knowing if you are male or female I can't speak for long hair to be fair to your Mom!

If you have curly hair you do not want to thn it out it will only make it stand out more ( trust me ) If you have to use a straightner to make your hair straight everyday you will look like your hair is broke... But if you have straight hair and it is blonde you will see the cut marks

Thinning hair is not good. Try layers instead. When you get your hair thinned they will either use a razor (which causes MAJOR breakage) or thinning shears (which make it uneven--I only use mine when giving a short, funky cut or for making bangs side-swept). I wouldn't recommend it. GET LAYERS INSTEAD!!!
