Question about fine/thin hair and getting it trimmed?

I have fine/thin hair and i need to know how many times should i get my haicut, or should i even get it cut at all? I heard you're suppose to get it trimmed every 6 weeks is this true? But then i also heard not to trim it at all if its fine/thin, that it will grow correctly on it's own? Help pleaase

yes it is true you get ur hair cut every six weeks. and just because its thin doesnt mean it will grow correctly. my hair is really thin and i get split ends. anyone can get split ends.
